bill trackers:

iga.in.gov

This is the Indiana General Assembly's main page. All the bills, amendments, schedules, and legislators are here, along with video of all committee meetings and votes. The League of Women Voters put together the guide below on how to use the site to track a bill

fastdemocracy

bill-tracking at the state and national level. You can get email alerts for specific bills you want to keep an eye on.

madvoters

bill trackers with easy-to-understand explanations of what the bills do, and calls to action. This is updated weekly with high-priority bills in yellow

other bill trackers:

contacting state legislators:

Need help contacting legislators? MADVoters updated their tool, at madvoters.org/contact-your-legislator. Simply input your address for their email, direct phone number, social media, and click more to see their address and committee assignments.

keeping tabs on Washington:

want to know where Trump is right now? this webpage (also an app - look in your app store) shows you his current location, what is on the Presidential Schedule for the day (probably golf), and includes links to any executive orders, proclamations, or other official bullshit.

  • Domewatch (also an app - search your app store)

Developed by Rep Steny Hoyer, provides users with live video streams, vote information, and legislative agenda

Progressive Caucus Action Fund keeps tabs on all of the bills and other legislation going through Congress. This is a great resource, but I find it’s not always updated to the current week. Their email newsletter comes out on Mondays

Indiana podcasts (watch on Youtube)

Indiana politics, history, and culture from the unapologetic perspective of the Hoosier left.

Indiana State Reps Earl Harris, Jr. and Blake Johnson host fellow legislators and experts to share an inside look at the Indiana General Assembly, explain bills moving through the legislative session, and showcase the policies and processes that are shaping our state.

Indiana’s Own Dana Black covers Indiana politics from a leftist perspective

New podcast from Good Trouble Indiana focused on health policy issues in the Hoosier state. I couldn’t find this one online, but you can listen at the link above or on your favorite podcast appYou can also find audio-only versions of these on your favorite podcast app - just search their names

public media matters:

Terre Haute is lucky enough to recieve public media from both Bloomington (WFUI/WTUI) and Indianapolis (WFYI). Also, my Alexa will only play NPR from Ilinois, but that’s probably my problem. Anyway - let’s support them with our eyes and ears, and if you’re in a position to do so, with our dollars!

blue tunes

Which Side Are You On? is a concert and discussion series celebrating and exploring protest music. Inspired by James Sullivan’s 2019 book of a similar name, it is an educational happening and a performance, but mostly, it’s a communal experience that uses music to bring together people who are concerned about the state of our democracy, and who understand that it may very well be culture that saves us.

Looking for more righteous tunes? Check out this probably AI-generated playlist of the 100 best protest songs. It’s an inconsistent list, and some of my faves aren’t included, so you should also check out Nana Was a Suffragette (this version is by the Lovenotes), Vote ‘Em Out by Willie Nelson , FDT by YG, and the protest-folk stylings of Jesse Welles.

vote with your dollars:

see how companies are donating - who they support and what percentage is donated by the company vs. senior employees of the company. You can also search by politicians and see where they get their money. This is also an app, so search it up on your app store.

Not a boycott list, but a ‘buy-in’ list - companies that are sticking with their values
